The Road Ahead

Greetings from Bidwell City!

Long time no see! It has been quite some time since the last update, and there are some reasons for that I wanted to bring up. But not to worry! I am still working on the game and intend to finish it to the best of my ability. With that being said, here are 3 things that I realized need to be done before I can release a new update:

1. The combat needs to be re-worked. This isn't a total refactor because many of the functions in there won't have to be re-done, but I am tweaking combat in how turns will work so things are more dynamic and will require the player to change tactics on the fly.

2. Certain mechanics need to be changed, streamlined, and revamped. Namely the Injury, Status Effects, and Buff system I have in place right now. I realized it is way too overdone with different effects that essentially amounted to variations of the same thing. So I am condensing everything down and changing how some of the mechanics work with it so it's way more impactful on gameplay, easier to grasp, more intuitive, and gives the player (and enemies) more options to work with. The idea is that I am making it more of a simple design with the intent of how they interact between each other in combat and outside of combat to create the complexity.

3. I really hate Accuracy, Dodge, and other chance-like values that give other tactical games a really bad experience in my opinion. So they are going away. Future releases will no longer rely on chance to hit targets. That way both the player and the enemies will have to plan combat around the fact that there is no missing by chance anymore (save for certain buffs that will act as a "get out of jail" move).

So yeah, apologies for the radio silence, but it's been needed to focus on what needs to change and what needs to be updated. I'd like to be able to say when everyone can expect to see the next update that will implement these things, but it's hard to say. However, the plan is to have the next update released sometime in the first quarter of 2022.

Hope you all have a great rest of the year, and see you at the next update!
